  • Jason MERTZ

    PASTOR - WORSHIP | Communications | MISSIONS

Jason is the Pastor of Worship, Creative Arts, and Communications for Redemption Community Church. He and his wife Wendy have been married since 2010 and have been blessed with two boys through adoption. They are both from the St. Louis area and believe that pizza is best served with crispy thin crust and provel cheese.

Jason has been in ministry since 2006 and has served in a variety of different positions but primarily in the area of worship and creative arts. Jason loves deer hunting, trout fishing, Cardinals baseball, Blues hockey, and Missouri Tigers football.  He also has a burden for adoption and foster care. In addition to being a pastor he serves as the Church Engagement Coordinator for the St. Louis Metro East chapter of Safe Families for Children.

Jason is a pretty laid back guy who loves serving his family, his church, and this community. He has a great sense of humor and can pretty much talk to anyone about anything.  Feel free to reach out to him if you’d like to connect over an iced cold Coke. Brandon is the Pastor of Discipleship and Groups with RCC.  He has 10 years of experience working in vocational ministry, and previously worked in personal finance and insurance. The majority of Brandon’s ministry experience has been in leading worship, and he has always had a passion for developing and discipling others within his ministries. He finds joy in seeing other people take steps of faith and expanding in their own abilities to serve the Kingdom. Brandon is geared to encourage, equip and empower others.

Brandon lives with his wife of 8 years, Deborah and their recently adopted daughter in Swansea, IL. Although they are transplanted from Minnesota/Wisconsin and Ohio, respectively, the Aarrestads love the metro east area, and have adopted the Cardinals as their hometown team.  Brandon is a long-suffering Minnesota sports loyalist, and he watches every regular season game for the Minnesota Wild hockey team. He also enjoys woodworking, playing hockey, and playing/writing music.

The Aarrestads enjoy attending Cards games, Blues games, the zoo, time spent with family, and hanging with friends in their back yard.

  • Deborah Aarrestad

    Administrative Assistant

Deborah is the administrative assistant at Redemption Community Church. She loves getting to be a part of a team that is so on fire for the Lord and for the city of Belleville.

Deborah has been married to her husband, Brandon (yes the one listed above), for 8 years. They have one daughter who they recently adopted from the St. Louis area, so they definitely have a special place in their hearts for St. Louis and the Metro East even though they are not from here.

Deborah has worked in ministry in the past on staff and as a volunteer for many years. She enjoys being able to help organize and equip others to do what God has called them to do. Along with being the admin, Deborah has her own company creating stuffed animals called Snuggle Monkey Custom Creations and she is a full time mom and nurse to their new daughter who has some medical needs.
